Hi, I’m Dr. Bryan Chong. I am a medical doctor currently engaged in Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine practice. Born in Singapore and growing up in windy Wellington, I completed my medical studies and various post-graduate qualifications in Auckland and Otago.
I have had the privilege of working in a variety of medical and surgical specialties, with a diverse background of experience in hospital and community medicine.
I am a member of the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care (RNZCUC)and the Australasian Faculty of Occupational & Environmental Medicine(AFOEM).
On average, we spend around 1/3 of our life at work. Despite this, there is little focus on the health and wellbeing of people in the context of their working environment. Occupational Medicine is the speciality involved with the prevention and management of occupational and environmental injury, illness or disability. I have a passion for promoting the health and productivity of workers, their families and communities, and ensuring workers are able to carryout their jobs in a safe, effective, and rewarding manner.
I also have an interest in sports and exercise medicine. I want to ensure that athletes are able to perform at their peak in a safe and sustainable manner. My interests lie particularly in the field of concussion/head injury prevention and management. I am currently involved with research and implementation of new and innovative technologies such as the Eyebox® and Infrascanner® in the assessment, screening, and diagnosis of head injuries.
In addition to general health and wellbeing services, I offer tailored consultations in a variety of occupational and sports medicine related services such as commercial driving medicals, work-related health assessment, head injury assessments, general health screening, and regulatory health certificates.
